UK Credit Union & Bluegrass Community FCU Announce Intention to Merge

Bluegrass Community FCU  was chartered on October 23, 1958. On August 23, 2004, they received a community charter providing the opportunity to offer membership to anyone who lives, works, or worships in Boyd County, Kentucky. The Credit Union has one location in Ashland, KY serving over 1,800 members.

UK Credit Union has been proudly serving the University of Kentucky and Central Kentucky since 1937 and now has more than $1.80 billion in total assets and seven convenient branches in Lexington and Nicholasville. UK Credit Union is a full-service financial institution offering a wide range of products and services, including checking and savings accounts, mortgage, auto, and commercial loans, as well as investment services. No. UK Credit Union is proud to state that no employees, Bluegrass Community FCU nor UK Credit Union, will be terminated as a reduction in staff. Matt Bell, Bluegrass Community FCU’s current CEO will retire as it has been his plan for quite some time.  

No. The leadership under the combined organization has no plans to change or close any branches. Following the completion of the merger, the Bluegrass Community FCU location will be updated with UK Credit Union physical signage. Furthermore, we are happy to announce a partnership with UK Kings Daughter Healthcare in which we will be opening a branch where the former City National Bank branch was. We’re excited to serve not only Ashland, but the UK Healthcare employees serving patients throughout the region.
